What is a Managed Equipment Service (MES) ?
Basically the scope of the service comprises the purchase,
installation, commissioning, management, maintenance, replacement and
disposal of cremation equipment. Unlike a straightforward lease, our MES
includes service and maintenance.
You will have the opportunity to renegotiate arrangements
mid-term to reflect your changing requirements – number of cremations
or revised environmental factors for example.
A significant advantage of the MES is that it guarantees
the replacement of equipment after its recommended lifecycle. Enhanced
financial management and planning as a result of consistent equipment-related
costs. Payment is linked to the performance regime.

Elements of our service include:
- Provision of funding for the purchase of new equipment and management
of its procurement.
- Transfer of equipment from the Council realising capital for other
developments.
- Procurement and acceptance testing of equipment, in partnership with
crematorium
- Comprehensive maintenance and repair of all managed equipment to an
agreed output service specification
- Planned Preventative Maintenance Management
- Ongoing user training
MES transfers the risk of providing technologically up-to-date
cremation equipment to the private sector. This will ensure that the operating
efficiency of the crematorium will not be compromised at some future point
in time by the lack of availability of public capital to replace technically
obsolete or worn-out equipment.
